Where I led data and analytics teams.
Um at Goldman, particularly through the financial crisis, which was a very
prolific time for us all, for the industry, but particularly in the data space, um, because it came before the kind of the explosion to the cloud, definitely came before AI.
And
The the thing that I learned back then was the power of platforms and the power of people.
And in the case of what Goldman did at the time
We realize that if you could put in one brain
The knowledge of the business, the knowledge of technology and the knowledge of data.
Um, if you can find such people, magic happens.
Right.
Um typically those roles are split between different humans uh in in an organization.
Um and he constantly trying to kind of hash things out between these different functions just because people have typically different skills.
At Goldman we defined a role, called it a strat, where
you could bottle up all this knowledge in one person, give them access to a unified platform.
And they can do things magically.
Um, and particularly through the financial crisis.
We were able to navigate the crisis.
Actually, lots of factors, but one of the key factors was we had these people
In these seats with this unifying platform, so when the world changed.
