And you have this moment where you click send on the manuscript on the final draft.

And you have to try and keep hold of that moment.

Because that is your honest reaction to the book.

And then there comes a lot of noise and comparisons and everything else.

But I have to just remember that I was, you know, what I felt there.

And I was very pleased with it.

And I'm very fortunate that this is actually probably going down better than anything I've written in terms of reviews and reactions.

So I'm very happy on that side of it.

But also, you have to be very careful of what you let in.

Because if you're letting in the good stuff, it's the same doors that open to the bad stuff.

So you have to take it all with a pinch of salt.

And just try and remember who you are as a writer and a reader and write for you.

I think the aim is to always write a book that doesn't exist that you would want to read in that moment.

AI couldn't do, and that also other writers couldn't do.

Not because it's better than anything else, but because it's specifically you.

You're not competing with all of literature.

You're just writing the thing that's most personal to you.

You are a unique person.

So trying to know yourself.

Knowing yourself and writing go together.
