York Minster is a great example that I'm going to talk about because I was there fairly recently. matched

But York Minster, the crypt at York Minster is above ground. matched

And the reason it's above ground is because there is a Roman fortification underneath it. matched

And the Normans didn't want to destroy that and break that up. matched

So they completely redesigned York Minster and made it higher so that they could have an above ground crypt, build it on that Roman footprint and maintain it and keep it. matched

And that's them saying we are the heirs to the Romans. matched

So that's a long way of saying that Anglo-Saxon England is about 450 to 1066. matched
