I remember being recruited and Tom Brand sitting in my kitchen with me, my mom, my dad, and another coach there.

And they were coming to have a home visit and have a speech with me and give me their spiel and whatnot.

And there was a slight scholarship discrepancy.

My mom sorted that out with him.

So that kind of...

that, that got that out of the mix.

But then the real question was, well, you got a lot of guys around my weight and you recruited a lot of guys around what my weight is.

Like, where do you see me fitting into the lineup?

And I still remember I'm paraphrasing, but basically I don't care what weight you go.

I want guys who want to win national titles.

And I still remember that.

And I mean, you want to talk about just shooting adrenaline straight into my veins.

You know, you got other schools that tell you their whole plan for you and how you're going to be on their team.

And you got another guy who's I don't give a crap where you are.

I want you if you want to be a national champ.

That's the type of people I want.

And, you know, this is also at the time where I was winning national titles currently or just about to.

Uh, they, they actually did the next year, my senior year, they won my red shirt, freshman year, they want, or my red shirt, they want, and then we want it as a team.

So those three years, the three Pete, um, so they hadn't even won it yet.

And I kind of just spoke to my soul because that was the way I carried myself was, you know, it.
