What am I doing right or wrong?
Analyzing situations involving wrestling, but really everything in life and figuring out how to maximize myself as far as being a legacy.
I've stated it in so many different interviews and talked about crazy stories.
The stories I heard growing up, I mean, it was like fairy tales.
Honestly, that's the easiest way to equivalent it for people to understand.
the stories of these guys in the 1970s.
I mean, anybody who has the slightest imagination can imagine what being in college in the 1970s was like, and then throw a bunch of super testosterone-filled wrestlers together who haven't won a national title yet, but know they have the capability.
and then throw the greatest coach to ever grace the sport of wrestling, Dan Gable, in there, and you have a recipe for just, again, fairy tale stories growing up.
So for me, being a Hawkeye was really my chance to live that out myself as opposed to just hearing about it from my dad.
I mean, I tried to make the most of it.
So funny enough, the three schools that I really narrowed down were Wisconsin, Iowa, and Northwestern.
All three of those schools had very successful Iowa wrestlers at the helm.
You had Iowa with Tom Brands.
You had Northwestern with Tim Szczeski, who was my dad's college teammate and close friend.
And you had Wisconsin with Barry Davis, who's another legend for Iowa.
multi-time national champ and believe three-time national champion, Olympic silver medalist.
Um, and like you said, full rides, full rides to the other two schools, not a full ride to Iowa.
And what drew me in aside from the obvious, I grew up wanting to be a Hawkeye was, um,
