Because...
We just saw what happens when you don't have a second line center.
It's very easy to shut down the second line.
And then there's a lot of pressure on the first line, which makes them very easy to shut down.
And, you know, you're thinking,
that Lane Hudson will take another step, Ivan Demidov will take another step, and those two things will probably happen.
But the fact is, there's just too many holes.
As the roster is currently constructed, right here, right now, on August 6th, that's not to say things can change on August 7th.
Say Kent Hughes makes a trade, and then my answer could completely change.
But as the roster is constructed right now, I just don't... It would be...
insane to think that they could win a Stanley Cup, considering what we saw through the last round of the playoffs last year, and then say they even get through that next year with this roster.
They have to do that again in the final round.
You know, to me, it just doesn't seem feasible with the way the roster is currently constructed.
Well, you know, and you bring up a great point in that, you know, these formative years are so crucial because if you take a look at those past Stanley Cup champions that you mentioned, you know, you take a look at the Tampa Bay Lightning.
How long did it take the Tampa Bay Lightning, after finishing first with John Cooper in the division, in the conference, year after year after year after year, to get to a Stanley Cup final and then eventually win it?
It took a few years.
And on top of that, the progression wasn't always linear, right?
As we talk about, some years they got ousted in the first round.
They got ousted in the Stanley Cup final against Chicago.
