Then at the convention, he announced that and he worked very hard.
I mean, he traveled all over the country trying to get votes, but when it didn't work out, he just pretended it never happened.
Well, that's a great question because Ronald Reagan loved Nixon.
He was 110% for Nixon.
Even after the Watergate scandal came out, he kept being convinced Nixon couldn't have known anything was wrong.
He kept thinking that Nixon was going to be vindicated.
He often said that Nixon was the victim of a lynching.
So he was 110% gung-ho for Nixon, even at a time when a lot of right-wingers thought that Nixon was too liberal.
But Reagan was always defending him.
