I'd want to see the night shift or the morning shift and just see how the boys and girls were, you know, what were they up to, what the shift had been like, just have, you know, five minutes chat.
A lot of times, you know, if someone was struggling, you know, I'd take that back and then try and work out with my senior staff what we could do for that individual and look after them.
But it was – you know, walking the floor was always something that I was a great believer in.
And I never stopped from when I – you know, from the crime manager to then becoming the commander.
What made it difficult –
was at that stage, in the initial days, we were up at Tookley.
So the place was fragmented.
We had a little station at Tookley, we had a little station at Wyong, and then the entrance.
Until such time as then, we got a demountable, you know, lucky us, we got a two-storey demountable at the entrance, which at least gave me the opportunity to see more of my staff on a more regular basis.
But, yeah, so Tugwell Lakes was and it always has been one of my favourite times in policing.

You know, I think back then, because it was more regional media, it was more covered by NBN, they were pretty friendly.
So, you know, you'd have a bit of a chat about off air before, you know, what sort of story are they after?
You know, what were they seeking?
So it was pretty, you know, pretty good to work with NBN reporters.
But I'll get into the reporting when I came to Sydney and the media in Sydney, they were just assholes.
