Good morning, survivors, and welcome to Mercury, a broadcast of hope.
I'm Max O'Brien, and it's day 2,997 since we came back on the air here on WEHG 870 AM.
We have a letter for you today, listeners.
A letter from a father to his son, although there was a note attached that said we could read it on the air if we wanted to.
He said he's trying to help his seven-year-old navigate this world.
Even though the zombies are the only thing his son has ever known,
there's still enough people left who remember the old world that the kid has certainly heard about it.
Anyway, here's the letter.
Julian, I know your older friends have told you that the world didn't used to have zombies everywhere.
That it was dangerous, but not dangerous in the way that it is today.
That people used to be able to just go to the store and get food and drinks and clothes and whatever else they needed,
unlike today where we have to kind of claw and scrape and fight and work for those things.
The world of today is much hungrier than the old one.
And I know that a life filled with that kind of struggle may not be the life you want, but I just wanted to make sure that you know I've got your back.
When life gives you those moments of pain and struggle, I'll help you in any way that I can.
But, at the same time, it's up to us to be able to function in this world on our own.
That doesn't mean you should have a go-it-alone mentality.
We all need each other.
We need community.
We need cooperation and fellowship.
