As much as he enjoyed the success, if you had given him the choice, I think that, you know, he would have done whatever.
I have done and which was our project, which was to move to Hoi An in Vietnam and just keep it easy.
And so it was always kind of the secret garden that we were dreaming of.
Anthony Bourdain died in 2018.
His TV programmes, books and essays are still enjoyed.
I don't remember exactly the last time I saw him.
It was probably at a restaurant.
And when he passed away, I was actually in Vietnam on the trip.
And right there and then I just decided, well, that's it.
He didn't get to do it.
I'm going to do it right now.
And I moved to Hoi An and I've been happy ever since.
Philippe Lajeunet was speaking to Saria Alango and remembering the chef, writer and TV presenter Anthony Bourdain.
