from the federal government.
You've seen that with the FCC and the pressure that it's putting on traditional media organizations.
You've seen that on the FTC last week in a letter that it sent to Apple News, basically complaining about bias.
But I think in some of these cases, this stuff is actually backfiring.
And I think you've seen this as well,
Don, some of the pressure from the Trump administration, from the federal government is actually having the opposite effect, and it's actually backfiring and creating more attention on some of these moments.
Well, Don, we've talked about this on your show previously.
There are a lot of corporate concerns.
The parent companies of these news networks have bigger fish to fry these days in a lot of cases, and in particular with Paramount, whose owners, the Ellison's, have explicitly said, essentially,
that if they're able to acquire Warner Brothers Discovery and CNN along with it, that there would be some changes to the programming there.
So it's very clear what the agenda is.
And one of the items on their M&A agenda is telegraphing that CBS is going to be run a lot differently.
And so they have no appetite to punch the bully in the face, as you've said.
And at some of these other networks, I mean, we have just seen that broadcast these broadcast linear channels are just not as important.
In particular, the news and late night shows are just not as important to their bottom line.
They're not as important culturally to a lot of these corporations.
And so they don't necessarily feel that they have to.
They're a bit shakier in their defense of them.
I want to carve out NBC here, which is not has not taken the same kind of steps to placate
uh the the new administration uh not like abc which settled one of its winnable lawsuits with trump and not like uh cbs which has of course been a whole different story as as you're alluding to but didn't they do to placate trump they spun off msnbc didn't they and and um and what else they spun off something oh they spun off cnbc which but they didn't make cnbc lose its nbc name yeah
