And lots of gear, lots of gear discussion, gear questions.

I don't love talking about gear all the time and lots of people do.

So it was great to have so many other people who could answer questions and like, you know, talk about water filters and paniers and like just yeah, and I think that um

Yeah, it there was lots of dorky I mean dorky in the nicest way possible gear conversations that uh it was cool to see going on because these are like there's a lot of choices that you have to make when you're putting together your setup.

Those were those were like a few of them and then some conversations about safety and what it's like to be out on the on the route alone and how it feels out there in those in between places.

So yeah.

Cool.

Yes, I completely agree.

And Banff is like a beautiful place, but

Unlike the mountain races or like TCR, there's no official pre-race meeting like the night before.

There's no like official channels to meet other riders.

So um, you know, with the WhatsApp group, people could be like, Hey, I'm going for sushi, who wants to meet up with me?

And things like that, right?

Which it's nice to allow people like a forum to connect.

One thing we were a little uncertain was of was how to use the space during the race because you know obviously self-supported bikepack racing relies on individuals doing things for themselves and not like you know like planning out hotel rooms with other people or getting information down the line.

And and um of course you can like you know you can always DM your friends and ask for help and it's up to you to not.

kind of violate that that rule though, right?

So this this group I felt like needed to exist in a way that wasn't offering unfair advantages to the riders who are part of it.

So I kind of shared some information in conversation with Matley about, you know, people being self-sufficient during the race.
