Yeah, I agree with you in that I think the language matters and also what's even in your control in this situation.
Even if you wanted to reconcile the relationship, could you?
Probably not.
It's probably not in your control to manage relationships
where your children are at in processing that really difficult, probably painful relationship with their father.
So I think the approach is rather, what do my kids need from me right now?
How can I support them while they're
coming to terms with a lot of, probably a lot of grief and pain and remembering and anger and it's okay.
Absolutely.
As someone who grew up with a father who struggled with addiction, that pain needs to be processed and felt, that anger, that grief, it needs to be there.
And so I think just being a steady presence in your children's processing is the best thing you can do.
And
Props to you for being a steady figure in their life while they are processing this relationship that isn't so steady.
So I think that's the best thing you can do.
Yeah.
It can just be what this season is needing for those children.
And what I also hear from this troublemaker is maybe some resistance or guilt or shame that that's what the children are feeling.
