By 2025, they felt he was ready to be released back into open water.
A black square satellite tracker or range finder was glued to the middle of his shell with a wire sticking out the top.
He was transported onto a ship in a white plastic box.
Initially, the gadget on his shell didn't work.
So 48 hours later, they tried again.
despite the weather not being ideal.
On the 11th of April 2025, after more than four decades, and with help of divers and a crane, he was lowered into the water and swum out into the Atlantic Ocean.
He was tracked for a few months where he travelled nearly 4,000 kilometres.
