So that's a really good tactic is you praise the ones that, yeah.

Let's talk about play-based learning and home and what are some of the things that as parents you could be doing at home that would kind of support the skills that you build on in ECEs as well?

I'm old.

Read and talk.

I was speaking with, well, not speaking with, I was listening to a group of teachers recently too, Teresa, and I'm sure you will share this opinion about in terms of the kind of play-based things or experience-type learning you can do at home when your kids are maybe a bit older at primary school.

A lot of teachers were saying that kids just aren't necessarily having the same kinds of experiences

and the impact that that can have actually on those skills like reading and writing.

And so I think when I always try and reassure myself of that in school holidays when I think, oh, we're kind of just going out and having fun and stuff and going to try and do new things that I feel like I'm doing some good education here.

But you are.

You know, to understand it's so important.

Because I think as a parent, sometimes you, I don't know, you follow these people that make these really elaborate, wonderful craft games to do with kids or like educational games.

And you think, oh, maybe I should be doing that.

But actually, as you say, just going, having conversations, having experiences with your kids is important.

just as, if not more valuable.

Language is the key.

Mm-hmm.

As parents, obviously there's a lot that we can do in that area, but is it important to think about more support from a societal level about that kind of early education in terms of...

really helping people understand about those early oral language experiences, about developing those soft skills before they get to school, all those kind of school readiness skills.
