We were only allowed to watch Home and Away.
And so the fact that I got the lead of Angel at 16 on our favourite TV show, my parents were like, how the hell did that happen?
And that's when the survival of a mum is at its peak, when you take a job that you know that they're not going to be eating baguette and butter, they're going to be eating sushi maybe, you know, or they're going to go on a better holiday or they're going to have a better life.
Love it.
It was lovely for me to arrive and see the same crew.
And you get the comment like, wow, it's been two decades, but we're all still here.
We're all still working.
And it was one of the greatest experiences.
I mean, 30 days a night, of course, but going back as a grown woman and remembering all the places I visited.
Of course, I forgot a lot, but just to be there with the New Zealand energy is just wonderful.
It's, dare I say, very similar to home.
I start seeing things and in my mind I'm like, am I in Australia?
No, I'm not.
Oh, but it's so close.
Oh, you know, but you feel like I was coming home, which was really nice.
It's fantastic, actually.
That's what drew me to the role was the fact that you have this sort of washed up, really suburban mum that doesn't really have much going on except the ring on her finger.
She goes to all her friends, I'm married.
You know, she's very proud that she's been married.
And then she finds herself doing such criminal things because she has to in order to survive to protect her family.
