I wanted something with some teeth, something that would challenge me and make me actually think that's a really specific ask because most books can be.
Part of it, but not all the parts.
But my husband was all of those things.
Our lead character, as I said, is never named, but I'm going to be thinking about her.
I have thought about this book every single day since I read it.
She is, as I said earlier, to use a very specialized medical term, crazy pants.
And look, I love my husband a lot.
I have been accused more than once of being fairly obsessed with him and hyper obsessed.
attracted to him and I've never bothered to deny it.
So I get it.
But this woman made me look like a paragon of sanity.
Really, honestly, it made me feel good.
This is the kind of book where you don't love the characters and also you cannot look away.
There is not a single person in these pages that I would want to grab coffee with.
couldn't put this story down.
If you're a reader who needs to like the people that you're spending your reading hours with, you already might think this is not your book.
That's okay.
But if you can hang with a narrator who's deeply unwell and just let her talk, this is a remarkable ride.
This book is so disgustable.
Oh my lord this would be the perfect book club book.
