What's interesting when we've been looking at the rise of fingering, and I've been thinking about it a little bit.

I think what's most formative about the way Gen X women were introduced to sex is AIDS.
We became sexually active in the era of sex could kill you, like could actually kill you.
So not only did we have to worry about STDs and pregnancy, which women have always had to worry about, we also had to worry about AIDS, which was seen at that time as a death sentence.
And so I know that that was hugely formative in my fears around sex and in unprotected sex.
