And then we because we want the after effect of it, I mean, it's entertaining if it's done correctly.

And then ultimately deep down, we're looking for a sense of meaning, right?

So those of us that are story hungry, we want that, we know that through experience we can actually develop a sense of meaning that we can't just get intellectually.

If you could then you could just like read a statement or look at a picture and get it.

But with the with the play.

or a movie, it's a time-based, you know, dramatic medium and it's the experience, it's the arch form that matters, right?

And so um we we willingly surrender to that, understanding that in exchange for us to

put our participation in and surrender to this fictitious setting, we could get something back out of it.

And we participate by paying attention.

And um so that's kind of the first principle of it.

Well, it's kind of like the concept of cognitive dissonance, but it's like instead

you you're willingly allowing something to appeal to the to the senses.

and giving it permission to not be real.

So it's it's it's a controlled you you're you're in a controlled delusion.

Right.

Cause if you really think about it, when you're watching a play or a movie, there are moments where you're so identified, it feels real to you.

You're crying with the characters, laughing with them, you're in shock.

So in the moment, you're actually crazy.

If you if you if you think about it, like you're allowing something completely false to be real, but that's the only way we get the pot the experience, because then the emotions become real, right?

And um so that's kind of the trade-off that you make is like you're willing to put your put this uh suspend your disbelief, right?
