And, um,

I didn't, you know, this is, I'm going back to 1995 and, uh, you know, I had some crews.

I also fell into the industry.

We're out doing projects.

Uh, I'm trying to figure out how to, how I should price something.

You know, I've got some paint over here and some wood over there and some labor over here.

Um,

And just cash flow was never fantastic.

The bank balance bounced around.

And I mean, I didn't have a good understanding of the difference between margin and markup.

So if I give a discount on something, I was actually, in some cases, actually dropping below.

I was doing 20% markup.

The simple version would be margin is – I'll say think of it this way.

I'll make it super, super, super simple.

They're just two different maths, two different ways of expressing the same thing.

If I had a project that cost $100, right, and I –

marked it up by 40 dollars that'd be 40 right correct that's a 40 markup right but if i were to give a discount let's say i said to the client you know what i'm going to knock off 40 of this project and i did 140 minus 40 percent

I'm now below $100, right?

I've actually dipped into my real costs.

So margin would be the number that describes the total piece.
