Yeah, I played from four till 23.
I played.
Just not good enough to make it.
And the only reason I got into media was not because I was book smart or loved to write.
I actually struggled in English, to be honest with you.
Oh, well, it's taken a while to get to where I am and guys like Andrew Webster and my former editor, Ian Fuge, helped me a lot along the way.
But I just wanted to get involved because I loved footy and I thought if I can't play it, this is the next best thing.
So somehow I just got through the HSC and got into uni and yeah, started journalism at uni.
There was nothing else.
I would not have made, I would never have got a Sydney Morning Herald cadetship doing it the traditional way, which is exam interviews.
Like, I don't know, like,
I'm not ashamed to say that I live in a bubble of rugby league and sport and my family.
That's it.
Like I'm not educated to the outside world, book smart, but what I did love was footy and I wanted to be part of that.
And thankfully with my connections, living out West, playing in that competition, that's where I started covering the local, uh, for the local newspaper, the Parramatta Sun for free in that competition with like, like Jared Hayne, Tony Williams, Chris Keating, Hodkinson, Timmy Manor, all these guys I played with and against before, uh,
