It was a really, really tough time.

And then just out of the blue, her sister's husband, Jerry,

who was in the military, said, hey, what blood type do you have?

And my wife told him it was the rarest of types.

And he said, well, I'm the same type because I had it tested in the military.

So he decided he would come up and get tested over at St.

Barnabas in New Jersey to see if he was a match.

So we were actually at my parents' place in Myrtle Beach at the time.

I was on the golf course with my dad.

And my cell phone rang.

And it was my wife.

And she said, Jerry is a match.

I'm going to get a kidney.

And it was like, I mean, it was like the most amazing, amazing thing that's ever happened to me.

I started screaming and yelling, throw clubs up and down.

My dad's like, what the hell are you doing?

You know, you mean that shot went 50 yards.

I said, no, no, you don't understand what's going on here.

So we, you know, he got okayed for the transplant.

Fast forward now, the transplant was supposed to be done on September 12th of 2001.
