Well, I was fortunate, you know, once Don challenged me to become involved, I started to attend conferences.

Then we had, ServiceMaster had a large international presence in 34 different countries around the world.

And Don asked me to lead the international committee.

And that was the first committee that I had an opportunity to chair.

And then soon after that, was elected to the board of directors.

and served and then had an opportunity to participate in the board meetings and to work and to help the association.

And then Steve Siegel, who was chairman at that time, picked up the phone one day and said, would you consider entering the chairs?

Now, at that time, it was a longer process.

I think there were four different steps as you move through secretary, treasurer,

first vice chairman and then chairman and then past chairman.

But again, it was working on some of the government relations, some of the facing parts of franchising that really excited me.

Again, that is such an important part and IFA continues to do an outstanding job in that whole area.

And then as I finished my role as chairman, I had an opportunity, as I have before, Doc Cohen talked me into becoming involved in the foundation.

And IFA has the Educational Foundation, which is basically a nonprofit 501c3 for the educational benefit of franchising.

And so I've been involved, and that's where you and I have gotten to know each other, primarily through the activities of that.

But, again, a little bit about, okay, I've been blessed both personally and financially.

My family has been blessed, and we can give back.

Plus, it's fun, and you're always learning from great people within IFA.
