Well, so that happened around 1260, 1270 BC, sometime in there.
And then what's interesting is about 40 years later or so, we see some changes happening in Canaan.
There's a population explosion around 1225 BC.
Brand new sites spring up out of nowhere.
And even very critical scholars like William Deaver will acknowledge this.
We see all of these new sites.
And the interesting thing is everyone agrees these are Israelite sites, the beginning of Israelite sites.
The book of Joshua says the city of Hazor was burned when the Israelites came in.
Well, lo and behold, at the same time, the city of Hazor was shown to be burned down.
And not only that...
What's interesting is that the idols in the city were mutilated, defaced.
Well, who's going to do that?
The Egyptians?
No, they had Egyptian gods as idols there.
The Canaanites?
They're not going to kill their own gods or, sorry, mutilate their own gods.
What about the Philistines?
Well, the Philistines never made it that far inland.
And historians will say, archaeologists will say, well, this leaves us with the Israelites as the only option.
Also, the Book of Joshua says the site on the Mount of Ebal, they built a cultic site, an altar to God.
