And then there's the actual function.

So the ability to

learn from experience to navigate some kind of problem space, not necessarily move around in 3D space, but navigate other problem spaces like physiological space, uh metabolic space, uh, gene expression space, anatomical space.

All of these things long predate uh the invention of nerve and muscle and and and running around the 3D world.

So all of these capacities are very widespread.

I see.

I mean so so that's yeah, the the the point about uh the disciplines is very important because we you know right away it's an issue because I I I can often tell uh w what department I'm talking in based on which part of my talk makes people mad.

And it's often a different thing because certain certain things are are completely uh uh obvious in one department and they're heresy in a different department.

And so you can right away tell that there's a there's a problem here, right?

because because people are are have have us have unshakable assumptions that um that are just not portable across across disciplines.

Can you give an example?

Well, okay, I do see here's I mean, there's many.

Here's an example.

Um, if if I say that uh the information processing in a group of cells is not determined by the genetics, it's driven uh the memory is stored in and is driven by and there's plasticity at the level of electrophysiological circuits, and they hold the f the actual information about what's going to happen.

In a neuroscience department, like, well yeah, no kidding.

But then but then to them the odd

part is when I say, yeah, but it doesn't have to be neurons.

And in fact, what's a neuron anyway, right?

And sweet dis okay, so that's so the first part's obvious to them.

The second part is is is is weird.
