I have a a level of sympathy to the people that again are coming from this background where maybe they weren't going to make news videos, but that became their thing.
And I think some of them in good faith are making these mistakes.
I think some of them aren't.
But either way, it's just this moment of okay, we actually need to talk about this.
I know that you've been thinking about a universal code of ethics for news content creators.
What would that look like?
Yeah, so to YouTube's credit, they have this independent media summit they do at least once a year.
And at the most recent one, earlier this year, YouTube themselves was asking me about what's your relationship with AI, what's your audience's test?
I was like, well, they all hate it.
And you know, to some degree, I do too, at least as it comes to like AI slop.
And another creator in that same medium was like, you know, there should be a scale.
I would actually propose a scale of one to ten.
So ten being this is pure.
Pure AI slop.
I wrote this into a prompt and generated this AI video, and that's a 10.
If I'm in Premiere Pro editing my video, I might ask Premiere to transcribe the video for me so that I can generate captions.
And then I go back and I fix the captions.
I think technically that process is AI, and that would be like a one.
So then who comes up with the one through ten rating?
Because how can YouTube know if you're using a chat bot for research or for scripting, how can YouTube know that you used an AI feature on your video editing software?
