So uh it's really
uh since that first wave started to get hired in about twenty fourteen that you started to see these things become internal to teams and it creates an interesting dynamic.
It's uh you know it's uh it's an asymmetrical field of intellectual property and different teams are trying to develop competitive advantages where they can and uh so the teams have been less willing to probably share amongst each other
what they're what they're working on, you know, what are their their major developments.
Um, but that doesn't say that there still can't be communication with the teams 'cause th you know, there is.
There was a the very first conference this season, um, in I believe it was around May, uh, of all the the heads of analytics across the teams got together in in Denver and you know, it's fun.
You get to sort of talk about the shared challenges that that you all sh
have outside of the concept of building a model, you might have challenges in how you access data from the league or you know, how we're all going to uh negotiate with our primary data providers, you know, th this type of thing.
So y you have y y we may not be sharing exactly what we're doing, but it's it's just sort of nice to know that other people are in the same shoes that you are.
Yeah, I mean I was uh lucky enough to be a part of that community.
Uh not right at the beginning and there's some some people that, you know, I I read uh when I was an early fan of the game and and learning about it.
And obviously some of those people have gone on to uh to get roles within the game as well, but I was sort of part of the I don't know, one point two wave if you wanna call it that.
Got in f fairly early, but you know, I I was lucky enough to to interact with those people.
people learn from them.
Uh back then it was very collegial and um you know you'd be you'd have Eric Tolski commenting on your blog, critiquing the thing that you just built and so it's a very humbling experience.
And so to go from that to to where we are today where the people that you were interacted with and and uh and participated in this with are winning Stanley Cups.
I mean it's a it's a pretty big deal for sure.
Yeah, I mean, I was lucky enough to be a part of that community, not right at the beginning.
And there are some people that I read when I was an early fan of the game and learning about it.
And obviously some of those people have gone on to get roles within the game as well.
