Yeah, well, most publishing companies are going to give you about $2 to write your first book if you don't have a platform.
If you have a platform and you've sold a lot of books, then you have a track record.
Or you have a platform with, say, via a blog with hundreds of thousands of downloads per episode.
You're going to sell a book for a good six-figure advance or mid-six-figure advance.
$25,000.
That was actually, I sold it in 2005 and came out in 2006.
And that was, you know, that was a typical advance in those days.
But the industry is...
Totally different.
I mean, it is a completely different beast now.
So yes, there are good advances for people that have platforms.
And at the end of the day, look, people get into this, you know, self-publishing versus trade publishing debate all the time.
I publish through a trade publisher.
I've got a great, great, I publish at Houghton Mifflin and Harcourt now.
Fantastic.
I've got a great editor who actually edits the book, which is very, very rare.
And they're going to distribute it throughout the world.
They're going to handle all foreign rights.
They put it in all the bookstores.
But at the end of the day, the marketing responsibility is still mine.
