Right.
And it's often I hear shame.
They're really smart.
Women are really ashamed that they got themselves into the situation where everything is so imbalanced that they feel like they're fighting their way out before it even starts.
And that, that can cause you to be on your heels in the divorce, not flat footed or even on your toes.
Like that level of fear can absolutely kill.
sabotage your negotiations from the start because you have no money in your own name to even hire a lawyer.
So it is still a cautionary tale.
Just don't get so far away from understanding.
It's still okay if you make that choice, but you got to understand where stuff is.
You have to have access.
Absolutely.
The intimidation – I say this all the time –
I am all about financial transparency, not opaque, having the right to understand where the marriage's money is living.
If you are in an abusive situation, you don't just start that conversation over a glass of wine.
You get a therapist involved.
You get help with how to that conversation because the last thing I want is this women's empowerment with money to push that into a really dangerous physical or emotional place.
But they are very linked.
It's intentional.
I am going to scare you.
