I participated in that search until my feet were bloody, as did several of my peers.

But day six, they said, well, shut it down.

What do you mean, shut it down?

Who said that?

Who gave that order?

Who shut this thing down?

You want to trust the department that they're doing the right thing, but no one asked us if we should shut it down.

If I'm the search and rescue guy and my partners are search and rescue guys and the helicopter pilots have been on hundreds of searches, why are we asking them what they think and their input?
