This is sort of the way it worked.

And so older consumers might remember having to order their cars.

So it would be sort of a return to that.

But, you know, this is sort of a U.S.

thing where this instant gratification of, you know, you drive off the lot that day and that would be a change for some people.

It can work both ways.

A customer might come in thinking that they can find something in the dealer's inventory.

They don't find it, and so the dealer helps them order it.

The car companies also are getting much better pushed by the pandemic to get better at actually being able to order, do most of the process online.

People are still going to pick it up from the dealer.

They might have to work with the dealer on certain things.

Yeah, it's becoming possible, at least, for people to sit at home and order a car through the car company, you know, with the help of a dealer.

So it sort of works both ways.

Yeah, I think there's going to be a big percentage of car shoppers who don't want to go this all sort of digital route.

And, you know, Ford is saying even if things go well and they execute this plan, it's a quarter of their customers.

For them, that represents some big cost savings potentially and some big efficiencies.

But I think if you're a shopper who wants to do it sort of the traditional way, that avenue is still open.

I think for consumers, it may mean some less selection on the lot and it may mean that you're not getting as big a discount because the discounts flow when the car companies push too many vehicles onto their dealer lots and they got to get rid of them.

So this is the big question.

So Ford's talking about doing this.
