You ask any soccer fan, and this year's World Cup was a pretty good one, all things considered.
The teams were good, the matches were close, it was the first time the US, Canada, and Mexico hosted the event together, and even here in America, where soccer has struggled to take hold, watch parties were common, bars, playing games were full, as people from around the world descended on cities across the country to take in the world's largest sporting event.
But now, there's a new power struggle among the World Cup's organizers, and it could change the way this tournament looks forever.
FIFA is a non-profit.
It has 211 member nations and they all get a slice of money generated by the organization's big events.
The biggest of which, of course, is the World Cup.
That's ESPN senior writer Mark Ogden.
He says FIFA president Gianni Infantino has been pushing this new plan to make even more money with the help of private equity.
Now, there's already a familiar name lined up to bankroll all this, an investment group led by Joshua Kushner, the brother of Jared Kushner, President Trump's son-in-law.
Now, according to Infantino's plan, this would generate a lot more money for FIFA's members.
Even smaller countries, smaller soccer federations that don't make it to the World Cup every year could potentially get $80 million worth of payouts, way more than they usually get.
That might sound like a good thing for the sport, right?
Well, not everyone's on board.
