Mike DeFabo

So, so Rick Minner, his dad is the head coach of the university of Cincinnati and they bring in a young defensive backs coach named none other than Mike Tomlin.

And evidently Jesse Minner wanted to be a great football player, realized that wasn't going to happen.

He needed to go into coaching and looked up to and idolize Mike Tomlin.

And they had a 25 year relationship and,

Even as recently as like a year ago, Jesse Minner was talking about how much he admired and looked up to Mike Tomlin.

So that's probably going to knock him all the way off the board for most Steelers fans who were chanting fire Tomlin.

But it is an interesting nugget nonetheless.

I'll give him an A-.

He's one of my leading candidates.

I mean, he's the only one that really knows why he chose to step down.

think it was a number of factors i i imagine that coaching in a city where they're chanting to fire tom when he realized that it was coming to an end one way or another but i agree with you in the sense that he seemed to me like the ultimate competitor that they were you know backed into a corner and with people chanting fire tom in his face he would want to fight his way out of it rather than looking for an escape hatch

thought he would have to be carried out of there rather than resigning so i was as shocked or surprised as his players and i mean i first got wind of it on thursday leading up to it diana russini who does it for us tipped me off that she was hearing a lot of buzz to the point she said get your stories ready i asked some people in the organization who i trust and they said you are wasting your time you are poking around the law like tomlin is not going to leave

and laughed at me for even suggesting it.

So I think he I mean, I think he absolutely did leave on his own though.
