So you have to be careful if you put yourself in that mindset and go too aggressive too fast.
Guys aren't built up to have that workload yet.
Let's say they're on pace to pitch in 75 games during the season.
Those things you have to take into account, unfortunately, because injuries play a major role in what we're doing.
So my mindset is like, how do we get ourselves in position for July 1st to buy at the deadline?
That's what my outlook is going to be going into the season.
And all those games, those 90-plus games that are going to happen from April to July, all matter.
Every day matters, but you also have to be smart about it.
I think it's easier to trade at the deadline.
See, I did not expect that answer.
I'm not saying you're going to pull it off.
There's more urgency around making deals.
I think during the offseason, there's just too many points for teams to pivot off of the trade market.
There's the free agent market that's available to you.
There's other trades.
There's other ways you can build your team.
You could feel like we'll figure this spot X out some way.
At the deadline, you can't.
If you need a starting pitcher, you have to go.
