I ask.

Yeah.

Someone found one years ago, he says, and I think it was packed up and reburied somewhere.

So the police were never told about this, I ask.

Nah, I don't think so.

Do you think they could be Heidi's remains?

I ask.

Hmm, he pauses.

Well, I'm pretty sure they figured they were old historic bones, but yeah, I mean, who knows?

I don't know much about them or who found them, but they're definitely there somewhere.

I pack up my notebook and say goodbye, and as I drive home, I'm trying to process what's just happened.

I came here today to meet this man, in the hope he may have seen something and could break this case wide open, but he denied it.
