My wife had actually recently applied for the school librarian's job at Sandy Hook.
And a good friend of mine lost his stepdaughter there in the tragedy.
So there's been others since, you know, they're too numerous to even itemize.
But yeah, it seems like that to some extent, that type of thing has resulted in what you might call acceptable losses in our country.
We don't seem willing to
to move the needle, you know, on when these tragedies happen.
I think, and this is something I talk about in the book, you know, for, let me say this, first of all, if you were to ask gun rights advocates, um, whether or not things need to change, whether it needs to be a different climate, a different reinterpretation of the second amendment or more laws, they of course would probably say no.
I mean, they think that things right now are okay in terms of gun rights.
they would blame things like Sandy Hook on other issues, mental health, video games, whatever.
Right.
Arming teachers.
Yeah.
And on this issue of mental health, which is a big one that comes up a lot in video games.
I mean, just to touch on this again for a second.
I mean, every developed nation on earth has its problems with crime, mental health, you know, video games, social media.
But what they don't have are school kids and grocery shoppers and churchgoers being murdered on a regular basis.
And they also don't have the easy availability and sometimes arguably reckless marketing of firearms.
That's the difference, really.
Because we have the same problems that other countries do with these other issues.
And yet the one thing which differentiates us is the gun issue.
