And the minor league parks wouldn't really explain getting the ball in the air more.
It might explain it flying further or the walls being shorter or whatever, but not the quality of contact.
And I think that's really important.
Yeah, Buehler and Marquez are a great example of two guys I really liked five years ago.
And now I'm not so sure.
One thing I still like to do, and I do this probably until two-thirds of the way into the season, is I still look at the projections.
Because there's been a lot of studies that said even halfway through the year, the projections tell you more about the second half than what's happened to date.
I think Vlad Jr.
will be a great example of that.
He's projected to be better, and I think he will be better.
And if you look at the Padres pitching staff, they are projected to have the best bullpen in baseball, which tracks.
They have Mason Miller and more at home and some other guys.
And the second worst rotation in baseball, ahead of only the Rockies, who basically don't count.
So the worst rotation in baseball and the best bullpen in baseball.
Now you can sort of even that out a little bit, but obviously there's only so much stress you can put on the bullpen.
And the funny thing to me is some of this, a lot of this, actually, I think was predictable.
Like, yes, I didn't expect Nick Pavetta would barely pitch and got hurt, and that's a bummer.
But we knew Hugh Darvish was hurt.
We knew Joe Musgrove was coming back.
We thought Michael King would be pretty decent, and, yeah, he's been more or less pretty decent.
