And it seems like that trend has turned around a little bit over the last couple of years.

I noticed this during the season because catchers were just hitting better than they had in kind of a while, like catcher offense a couple years.

And when I dug into it a little more, I had written about last year how pretty much everybody is using the one knee catching stance now.

They use it to improve their framing.

It doesn't hurt their blocking, no matter what people will tell you.

And the more I looked into it, the more quotes I collected from catchers saying, and also it's easier on my legs.

I think I'm going to be able to catch more.

I don't feel a sore in the morning.

And now that 95% of the league is catching on one knee and we're having more and more catchers playing every day.

Like we had, we had five American league catchers who had 500 or more plate appearances, not all as a catcher.

Some were DH.

I get it.

And that's as many as we had between 2017 and 2021, which is really incredible to me.

And if this style of catching can not only improve your framing but keep some of the biggest stars on the field more, then great.

We're never going back.

I don't think we will ever go back to the old style.

if it continues just because there's so many, I don't want to say continues.

They will continue.

I don't think it will increase.

Let's put it that way because there's just so many difficult things about this position, right?
