You know, I should give Claude a raise.

I'm not going to do that.

That was a big unlock for me.

Yeah, so Obsidian is essentially a Markdown writing app is how I would describe it.

It's a Markdown editor.

So when you create an Obsidian vault, it's basically just a folder full of plain text files on your computer.

And those plain text files, if you use some of the Obsidian plugins, you can do some pretty interesting things with that plain text.

I would say the signature feature of Obsidian is that in those plain text files, you can put double square brackets around any piece of text, and then that will create a link to that text as the name of a note inside of your Obsidian Vault.

And that allows you to build these connections.

They're not just one way connections like Wiki links.

You know, if you're going to look at Wikipedia and there's a link to another page, you can click on that link, go to that other page.

But you can't.

There isn't necessarily a way back to that previous note unless there's another link on that other page.

So all the links in Obsidian, they're called bidirectional links, which means you can navigate to them from either direction.

The way that I started using Obsidian actually was I wanted a way to create my own cross-reference library of all the sermon notes that I took.

I take sketch notes using GoodNotes on my iPad and I always

have the verses that are mentioned, then I have a square box around them.

So I was thinking, you know, if I could take this sketch note, create a note for that, you know, this is the day of the note that I took.

And then from there, create links to these individual verses.

I could click on the note for those individual verses and I could see all of the other notes that I've taken that have linked to that.
