and that's that's basically the value of this you know i can say this was the verse that was mentioned this sunday so i click on that i see that verse i see all the other notes that are connected to that not just sermon notes anymore i've developed my own like topical bibles that sort of thing but all of the other places inside my obsidian vault that that link to that that particular verse and though the key idea from this if you don't want the scriptural example is that those individual notes those are called atomic notes

Right, so that you can connect to literally anything else.

And that's where the real power comes from is when you break down things into the smallest component pieces.

I stole that atomic idea actually from James Clear when he talks, he defines it inside of atomic habits is these things of immense power in the smallest component piece.

I was like, okay, so if I take these notes and I break it down, I take the Bible text and I break it down to the smallest component piece, what is that?

That's an individual verse.

So I have 30,000 individual verse notes inside my vault so that I can connect them like that and create those connections.

But the key is I'm not looking at the big graph view that shows all the connections of everything in my vault.

I'm never doing that.

There's what's called a local graph.

You can pin it inside of your interface.

So when I open up a note,

It puts that note in the middle on the local graph and it shows all of the notes that either link to or are linked from that note as connections on that graph.

And you can click on that graph and you kind of navigate your notes that way.

If you do that a little bit, you can end up in some really interesting places.

And then as you're doing that, your brain's like, oh, that's connected to that.

I didn't even realize that before.

And that's where creativity is.
