And that is exactly what it feels like for people on Instagram or Facebook or whatever socials they're on at the moment as young people because they feel this kind of pressure to curate and edit.

And so it just...

you know, it's not any different.

That anxiety that they're feeling for their online self is the exact same anxiety they're feeling for their offline self.

It's hard.

And you can't leave.

But like basically you non-consensually signed this social contract by being –

like plopped into that group that you would participate, that you would validate other people's experiences and opinions, that you would be active and present because, you know, if people feel like you're not present, that maybe you don't value them as much as other things in your life.

Like it's like this, yeah, it's like this social contract that we all unwillingly sign when we enter these spaces and what that actually means for the emotional and mental labour in real life.
