So this is really where we now have to move from a treaty on paper into implementing it.
And a lot of it comes down to national coordination.
Yeah, so Ireland has its own, every country has its own delegation, but the negotiation happens in different groups.
So Ireland has been negotiating as part of the EU, European Union, and been very active throughout the negotiations, which then led up to the agreement being adopted.
And Ireland was also one of the first signatories or early signatories in September 2023.
And last year in September, it ratified the BB&J agreement.
So...
Ireland has ratified the BB&J agreement and is participating actively in the negotiations and the preparatory work before the first conference of party, which would be in January next year.
And Ireland, through its foreign aid, has also been assisting particularly small island development states or big ocean states that are also one of those most vulnerable.
And so helping them to see how they can build their capacity for implementing the BB&J agreements.
Yeah, so I mean, the first step is obviously to have the right legislation in place, whether it requires an amendment or a new law.
I mean, I think that would definitely be a first step, as well as, and really, you know, making value of the very engaged civil society.
I think that's key.
So first, you need a legislation, you need the political will.
