And it's also like,
I think because my children have it and they also have autism.
So I've had a lot of time to kind of really go deep into how our brains work and what makes us function and what propels us towards something.
And while we have a lot of trouble focusing on things that don't really interest us and what we need to kind of help us a little bit with the things that
are a bit, feel a bit menial, you know, so.
Um, it helps, yeah, just understanding the chemicals of your brain a bit, I guess.
And just, it just really helps with shame, like I try to talk to my son about why he struggles with certain things, and how, you know, it's not, doesn't mean that he's not smart, you know, the fact that he can't, um, really listen to what the teacher's saying if the teacher is speaking to everyone.
You know, he really needs that one-on-one, um, from the teacher.
So, yeah, it's just, it's, it's helped in general with compassion, I think.
Yeah, and I think it's like, um, you know, some people are against labels, and that's, you know, that's a fair argument, but I think where labels can really come in handy is when it allows you to have this framework, you know, to read up on and go, okay, so if my brain is in this category, then chances are I struggle with these things, and
um, I can implement these things to help me with those struggles and that's just, it's really invaluable.
I feel really lucky that my kids have learnt this really early on too, because they're having the language for it and um, you know, they know how to talk to other kids about it and their teachers about it and hopefully, you know, their knowledge about it will just improve as they
as they grow up and will be able to kind of talk through their struggles and what might help them and, you know, like, it'll be an ongoing conversation with all of us.
Yeah, I'm really, I'm really not in my body.
I, I, I just started seeing this new therapist, actually, and she's helped me a bit with it, because she said to me, um, how much, she said, well, right now, how much are you in your body, compared to how much are you in your head, like, out of ten?
And I said, oh, I'm probably nine, eight or nine in my head, and the rest of my, she's,
the rest is in my body, like one or two in my body, because I can hardly feel it.
And I didn't realize that until she said it, I was like, yeah, I have no feeling in my whole body when I'm talking to you.
Um, and I said, um, that's what I feel like a lot of the time, I get very, very stuck with thoughts, and they go round and round, and I ruminate on them.
And I try to, like, intellectualize my way out of difficult emotions.
