Let's talk about some meta analyses because I think that's what is coming out now.
Like we're able to look at, okay, we've had lots of studies.
This one's 71 studies, 90,000 people.
We can finally get this kind of data because we're like,
now that brain rot and short form video is this like solidified concept um i know we've already been saying it but it's like people who consume more have poorer cognition worse attention worse inhibitory control so the ability to like stop yourself from like doing things you would otherwise not want to do is this just scrolling short form video yeah this one is this has to do just with like cognitive erosion they're calling it with um
Brain rot, which is almost always related to short form content.
Okay.
And worse mental health, which is also something that we need to talk a lot more about because a lot of times people don't realize I'm anxious, I'm depressed, I'm sad, I'm lonely.
This behavior is actually inflaming those things as well.
Yeah.
The more you scroll, the more these problems become a bigger issue and you're more likely to scroll, as we've said.
The biggest impact is on people's attention spans and inhibitory control, but mental health, higher stress and anxiety follow behind.
Okay, so...
One study with some specific numbers found that if people who consumed more than three hours a day of short-form video content had a 27% error rate in sustained attention tasks compared to 5% for low-frequency users.
Say that again.
So as it relates to being able to have sustained attention...
People who were consuming three hours of short-form video, whether that's TikTok, Instagram, whatever, had a 27% error rate in this attention task versus those who had not a problem with scrolling a lot.
Like less than three hours.
Yeah, had 5%.
That was for low frequency.
