Hello, I am Molly Burke.
I am a social media content creator, motivational speaker, and recent bestselling author.
And I, in my memoir, Unseen, talk a lot about an organization that was giving cults in many ways.
Definitely a lot of people said to me, you know you're in a cult, right?
And I was like, no, I'm not.
And then looking back, I'm like, oh, definitely like cult adjacent culture.
And it just gave me like a lot of perspective that I'd love to talk about with you guys today.
Well, we kind of have to go way back.
When I was four years old, I was diagnosed with a rare genetic eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa.
And at the time, my parents were told that I was going to go blind and they didn't know when that day would be.
I was going to deal with progressive vision loss.
My vision might last into my 60s.
It might last until my 30s.
They didn't know.
And so my whole childhood, I was kind of preparing for my eventual vision loss.
But I always say that, well, yes, I could prepare by doing things like learning Braille and learning how to use a white cane.
There's no emotionally preparing.
