Court TV, Don, was having conniption fits about it, that no cameras were allowed.

Press was limited in the amount of time they could be in there.

There were like 10-minute intervals where people had an opportunity to get into the courtroom.

If they didn't make it in that 10 minutes, it was shut out for the rest of the day.

And so the new trial motion is saying that there was interference with Carmelo's decision whether to testify.

that improper jury instructions were given affecting the self-defense claim, that there were violations of the right to a public trial, and that there was a breach of an off-the-record agreement regarding character evidence.

And so this doesn't have anything to do with the Batson challenge.

I'm sure that they'll get to the fact that there were no Black people on the jury at some point down the road.

But this new trial motion is about that.

And the motion to recuse the judge is about the fact that the judge, Judge John Roach, chose to have a presser.

At the end of the trial and invited all this media to come in after he's the one that kept the media out the whole time, right?

Sat down and gave some comments that are raising eyebrows even in conservative circles about the trial, about why he did things the way he did them.

And so these are violations that are being alleged of constitutional rights.

The right to a public trial is the Sixth Amendment right.

the constitutional right to testify, jury instructions on self-defense, whether there's prosecutorial misconduct, judicial impartiality.

If you look at the things that he said in the presser, it speaks for itself.

And so I am just encouraged that Carmelo Anthony, a young man now 19 years old, still just barely out of boyhood, he is in...

isolation in a prison system right now, looking at the rest of his life, looking at 35 years and the very least that he deserves is a fair trial.

And so that is what they are asking for.

A new trial motion is not about looking at the evidence again.
