We need to bend that where Carmelo Anthony is concerned also, because
A year ago, a little over a year ago at a track meet, there was a stabbing and that is not, that's not a controversy at this point.
It was Carmelo Anthony immediately offered to the police that it was him that did the stabbing and that he was in fear for his safety.
He said that at the time.
Um, there was an altercation under a tent at a track meet in Collin County and, um, a young man ended up dead.
Austin Metcalf ended up dead.
And so that all of that is tragic.
As far as I am concerned, what then happened in the trial compounded that tragedy.
And at the, um, Carmela was found guilty and he was sentenced to 35 years and, um,
He was 17 at the time that the stabbing took place.
Normally other places in this country, around this world, Texas is one of the rare places where it doesn't happen.
Normally somebody who's 17 would be going through the juvenile system, would be processed through the juvenile system, assessed in the juvenile system, and then whether or not they're going to be tried as an adult would be subject to a hearing and determination.
It's not that it doesn't happen.
Sometimes it does.
but it would start in a track that acknowledges that the young person who is accused of committing a crime does not have a fully developed frontal lobe yet, is still considered a youth, a minor.
That didn't happen.
He was bound over for trial as an adult.
