Kids who had been abused or who had um run into problems with the law.

Um d do those two things relate?

Oh, sure they do.

Um I didn't know they did when I when I began to do it.

You see, I I went through university in psychology

And I volunteered for every uh f family psychology experiment or lab uh uh project that they had.

And I really found myself enjoying this um parent and children relationship and the

the psychology of children.

So after I left university

Um people in the county and the state agencies um saw great value in what I was doing and they began to

give me calls and recommend that there was a child locked up in Pasarobles, California that they felt had great potential if just given a chance.

Why don't you go meet them, you know, and

They knew I was a sucker and and I'd go meet these kids and bring 'em home and what can you do, man?

I had to try to help.

And my life was going pretty well.

Horses were making me a little money and and um

uh I never asked for any money for these foster children uh to stay with me.

And it just began an Odyssey that went on for about thirty five years.

And those forty seven foster children span about thirty five years.
