And then we went and stayed with a friend in Istanbul.
She is a choreographer, so we stayed with her.
And then we went to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
And it was just incredible.
It was so delicious because I often think you can't, it's very hard to practice gratitude without context.
It's really hard to understand how good you have it if you haven't experienced anything else at all.
And so to be able to go overseas and experience, go to Istanbul and see the kind of glorious chaos of that, and there was this grit in Scotland, which was quite very exciting but kind of scary at that age, and Finland was this beautifully put-together country,
windmills on islands but light the whole time it was 24 hours of sunlight because of the time of year and then my dad and i when i was 13 we traveled together down through vietnam and what am i 13 so that's yeah early 2000s so so the i think the vietnam of that time was uh
different to how it sounds maybe today.
So again, it was really eye-opening.
It was like real poverty.
So I came back from both of those trips with a much more articulate sense of gratitude and a beautifully closer relationship with both parents.
I had to really cling on to them, and I think that was good.
Exactly, yeah.
Adventure and achievement and curiosity, yeah.
And you just, I think if you are lucky enough to be able to travel somewhere...
any time, or being invited into somebody's culture any time, invited, I feel like you become a guardian.
You feel like there's forever a connection and an appreciation, yeah.
