It wasn't being really smart with the with a rag or prompts.
It was purely in how we'd framed it to the users.
And when you looked at the actual underlying data, users were using the coach differently in those two scenarios.
It's obvious in retrospect, but I was just surprised and shocked by the magnitude of the impact, how they think about the AI.
influences what they say to it and how real or raw they are with it.
And then what they say to the AI influences what it can give you back.
And what the AI gives you back influences what you as a user do.
And so like reading those transcripts and looking at why was one product failing and the other succeeding, I really realize what's not yes, so much uh matters when it comes to model quality.
So much matters when it turns comes to how grounded your system is.
What determines success is not just how smart the model is, but like what does it actually do when it's in the room with the user.
How does it behave and how does what the user does change how the model behaves?
And it's at that interaction layer that success or failure was happening.
And so I realized like that I cannot build a good product without reading thousands and thousands of transcripts.
I cannot build a good AI coach with actually understanding what our users are doing when they're in the room with our AI coach.
What do they actually want from it?
Um, and just nothing existed in the industry to to do that.
We had lots of technical systems and guardrails and telemetry on latency.
But the core problem that we needed to answer was like, well, what's actually happening in the room with users and the AI product?
So we started to do just really focused research on what was going on there.
And um, yeah, it turns out there's a lot of messiness in in how users are currently interacting with AI and a a
